About James R. Adelman, EA
James R. (Jim) Adelman has been a practicing Enrolled Agent (EA) since 2001. Before being licensed, he prepared tax returns under the tutelage of a local CPA for five years and devoted many hours to obtaining tax education. For 23 years, he worked at the law firm of Frasier, Frasier, & Hickman, LLP of Tulsa, OK and handled a relatively large caseload of tax representation through the firm. His contract with the firm allowed him to have a private practice and he prepared over 200 business and personal returns per year. In January of 2015, he and Tim formed their own firm, Tax & Financial Services, LLP located in Tulsa, OK. Additionally, Jim has served for several years as an instructor on the national and state level regarding Form 1099, Ethics, Non-Profits, and other tax subjects. As a longtime owner of several small and medium-sized businesses besides his tax practice, he has extensive business and management experience.
Jim holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Langston University, Langston, OK and is a National Tax Practice Institute Fellow. He is also the past president of the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) and the Oklahoma Society of EAs. He has recently been awarded the “Founder’s Award” by the NAEA.
Jim is married to Vicki Adelman, has two daughters and two dogs.
About Tim A. Johnston
Tim Johnston is a member of the Beta Alpha Psi National Accounting Honor Society. As an OSU alum, he has a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with an Accounting major. He started his accounting career at Touche Ross & Co. CPA’s where he worked for six years and was a senior auditor in charge of performing financial and operational audits for clients in various industries. The years following Touche, Mr. Johnston worked mostly in oil and gas companies such as Amerada Hess, Mapco, Inc., SMI, Corp. performing internal audits among other administrative functions. He was also CFO of Johnston Drilling Company.
Prior to partnering with Jim, Tim was the owner of an accounting practice for seven years where he oversaw special projects that included valuations of closely held corporations, economic projections, and cash flow requirements.
With over 30 years of experience, Tim continues to practice as an accounting partner at Tax & Financial Services, LLP.
Tim is also an instructor for the Enrolled Agent and the Tax Portion of Certified Financial Planner preparation courses at Northeastern State University.
